Capital Football Club Changer of the Month — Belwest Foxes
Belwest Foxes Soccer Club has been recognised by Capital Football as Club Changer of the Month (Governance — Committee and Leadership) for its commitment to strong governance, effective leadership and a sustainable future for the club community.
Through the dedication of the committee and volunteers, the club has taken a proactive approach to strengthening governance and keeping operations in step with members' needs.
A key achievement has been modernising the club's constitution, aligning governance processes more effectively with the football season and creating a stronger foundation for future growth.
The introduction of Spond has also improved transparency, engagement and two-way communication between the committee and members, including registrations, teams, events, fundraising and club updates.
Beyond governance, Belwest continues to build a positive and inclusive culture. Through targeted communication campaigns, the club promotes respectful behaviour towards referees and officials, and encourages players, families and spectators to contribute to a welcoming football environment.
The club is also committed to increasing participation for women and girls through dedicated player, coach and referee development pathways. These programs provide training, mentoring and support that help build confidence, develop leadership skills and encourage greater female representation across the game.
Belwest is partnering with the ACT Government to deliver upgrades to the Latham home ground, including accessible amenities, shaded areas and free drinking water. These improvements will create a more welcoming and accessible environment for current and future members.
The club continues to invest in its people, facilities and community while maintaining affordability and supporting initiatives such as refugee participation and Every Chance to Play.
Through strong committee leadership, sound governance and a commitment to inclusion, Belwest is creating lasting positive change on and off the field.
